2019 Nissan Altima to Set a New Standard for Nissan Sedans

The celebrated mid-size car is soon to appear among new Nissan car, truck, and SUV lineups at dealerships here in State College, PA and beyond, during the fall of 2018, and it'll be no less than all-new and redesigned for an upcoming sixth generation. What will visitors to our West College Avenue showroom in search of something more than the everyday drive have to look forward to?

For one, a host of some of the most cutting-edge safety and driver-assist tech one can find, Advanced Nissan Intelligent Mobility, including:

  • ProPILOT Assist, standard on Altima SV, SL and Platinum trims, making it easy to remain centered in-lane, manage frequent stop-and-go in heavy traffic around Altoona, and keep a preset speed with and distance from vehicles ahead, all with simple two-button operation -- just push the ProPILOT Assist ON button, set Intelligent Cruise Control when you reach cruising speed, and sit back and enjoy the ride
  • Safety Shield 360, a suite incorporating an auto emergency brake system, pedestrian detection, warnings for lane departure, vehicles approaching in your blind spot, and crossing from behind you, and a high-beam assist for lighting the way with other Lewistown drivers in mind
  • Rear automatic braking, also standard in SV, SL and Platinum trims, to warn you visually and audibly of objects behind during backup and, if necessary, putting on the brakes to help prevent an accident.

Other available smart tech includes intelligent forward collision warning, a traffic sign recognition system to inform you of local ordinances, an intelligent around-view monitor to give you a panoptical image of your surroundings, and an intelligent driver alertness feature to let you know of deviation from your driving habits.

You can also expect a choice between two spirited new engines. One is a world's-first production-ready 248-horsepower, 2.0-liter Variable Compression Turbo, replacing the 3.5-liter V6 in the previous generation but retaining much of its performance dynamics, especially its capable torque, weighing in at up to 273 pound-feet. The second is a 188-horsepower, 2.5-liter, four-cylinder, reflecting a bump in power over its forbears, and it pairs with a newly available intelligent all-wheel drivetrain for more confident handling over slippery, uneven surfaces and through foul weather around Huntingdon, PA. The new Altima is even built lower and wider, with more athletic proportioning to enhance that performance.

Of course, let's not forget the mid-size sedan's new, open interior design, showcasing exceptionally comfortable NASA-inspired Zero Gravity seats, available in perforated leather, giving way to a horizontal gliding-wing instrument panel home to an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. With Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth tech, Siri Eyes Free, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa Skill compatibility, and available Apple Watch and Android Wear support via the NissanConnect Services app, the setup better integrates the drive than ever. You can connect a smartphone and access its features from the display, make hands-free calls, issue voice commands, remotely start and stop your engine, lock and unlock doors, and more.

We at Nissan of State College are eagerly awaiting this marvel, but for now, you can get the firsthand Nissan Altima experience here at 3280 West College Avenue in town. Before you do, it'll be a good idea to get as informed as possible, which is why we've even made it easy to compare your favorite Altima models to the competition. When you've learned all you'd like, be sure to give our sales department a ring at 866-938-5040. We'll be glad to bring you in for some time behind the wheel!
